EMITRON provides a spectrum of systems and electronic engineering services primarily in the railway and municipal arena. The mission of EMITRON is to apply its engineering expertise and railway systems knowledge to reduce the risks associated with the development and integration of technology into harsh industrial environments.
The type of business Emitron is pursuing is mainly systems engineering, system design, installation, testing and commissioning as well as consultation on environmental influences and integration. We have expertise and many years experience in the field of railway signalling, integrated rolling stock and infrastructure condition monitoring and the integration of other railway information and operational systems. In addition to this we apply Systems Engineering principles, tailored from the military industry and ICOSE practices, to all our railway projects. The process covers the development of “user requirement statements, requirements analysis, required operational capability documentation” through to the final functional specifications at system and sub-systems level.
A modified system engineering methodology is applied on the integration of existing railway sub-systems to create an integrated solution with existing and added functionality, which have proven to result in very cost-effective solutions.
Emitron offers their clients a “one stop” service encompassing all aspects of railway system development including systems engineering, procurement, execution, maintenance management as well as project management. This is either a stand-alone or a turnkey offering. All the aforementioned assure our clients of the best solutions to meet their specific needs.
Emitron employs personnel who understand the railway environment, operations and logistics and is positioned to provide supporting systems and technologies, which are the enablers for an effective railway operation.
The Engineers and Technicians with EMITRON collectively have more than 70 years engineering experience. They have relevant educational qualifications, and are registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and Australia.
